The Freshman Feeling

As we just began a new academic year everywhere i go i see the new students or Freshers as we call them moving around and where ever they are they stick out like a sore thumb, their dressing is a major give away as they are not yet accustomed to the way we dress they look funny to us old students. And if you're a fresher and a group of people start laughing as you walk past them and they weren't laughing or giggling before, then you probably the reason for their laughter you probably won't understand why now but you would when you're in their shoes.
About three years ago i was also a fresher and back then before i got to school boot cut was still the "in thing " or at least to me, "it was a lie o.....was a small boy like this...evribody was looking big but i knew that one day i will grow.lwkmd...was a dead guy that year tho but like d peak advert 'i was determined to never give up'.i can remember myself wearing parachute trousers and shirt thinking that i was so fly" Lol the statement in quote was written by James one of my many mischievious friends, i know i was small and and wore big clothes but come on i wasn't that bad. Back then i didn't get it all and i didn't think anything was wrong with the way i dressed but when i saw the next set of freshers i understood why we were so funny back then, in the end adapting takes time.

Chancellor Charges Staff, Students to Invest Time as New Academic Session Begins

Chancellor Charges Staff, Students to Invest Time as New Academic Session Begins
After five weeks of holiday, Staff and Students of Covenant University resumed on Sunday, August 4, 2013 for the 2013/2014 Academic Session and immediately commenced registration of the returning students.
The Fresh Students also resumed on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 and commenced registration same day. What is unique about the new session is the commencement of the Three-Semester Academic Calendar as approved by the University’s highest governing body, the Board of Regents.

Prior to resumption, the University Management had organized various units including the Academic Affairs, Admission Office, Student Affairs, Financial Services and Centre for Systems and Information Services to ensure that the students have a smooth registration for the new academic session.

In the same vein, the Halls of Residence were renovated to make them more conducive for habitation. Staff were also mobilized to ensure that the students have a sound academic session.

At the Opening Assembly cum first Chapel Service of the session on Tuesday, August 6, 2013, the Chancellor, Dr. David Oyedepo charged the Staff and Students alike to make the most of their time for it is man’s greatest asset in his quest for great accomplishments.

Speaking on “The Power of Time”, the Chancellor noted that the quality of time invested determines ones destiny.

“Those who make the most of their lives are those who make the most of their time. Likewise, those who mess up their time make a mess of their lives. Life is measured by time. It is the quality of the investment of your time that determines your destiny”, he explained.

Directing his words to the students, the Chancellor said, “Everyone has capacity to be an extraordinary student. If you can make an “A” in one subject, you can make it in others. It is just an extra effort you need.

“If you can not manage your time, you can not manage your life. Time is an asset of equality. Everyone has the same amount of time. All you need is to learn how to invest it wisely. Those who know the worth of time can not lose ground in life. Only time investors are players in life”, he advised.

He welcomed everyone to a session of glory and high productivity as he declared the session opened.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charles Ayo also welcomed both Staff and Students. He congratulated everyone on the successful completion of the last academic session and the 8th Convocation Ceremony.

He promised that the 2013/2014 Session would be different as he enjoined everyone to put in their efforts to achieve the goal of “One of Ten in Ten”.

EVERYBODY O!!!! CU is now running on GAS TURBINE.

The latest gist reaching us here is that CU and the whole of cannanland is now running on a gas turbine . With the new power system we are supposed to be having light 24/7 everywhere. The V.C in his welcome speech actually said "power is here to stay" so i think that's what He meant. A reliable source from chaplaincy also confirmed the story. I never see the gas turbine with my own eyes o but i heard it is located outside cannanland. The gas turbine is actually going to save the school and church a lot of money being spent on diesel and maintenance. If this is true then the days of going to library to charge and sleeping in darkness are over. But today there was power failure I guess they are still testing the gas turbine............lol. Sha lats see till the end of the semester if the increase in our school fees is justified.
Gas Turbine, CU don dey step up o.,

FIRST CHAPEL SERVICE FOR ALPHA SEMESTER

Today the first chapel service for alpha semester held.It was great though the turn out of students was low, seems most guys that resumed just registered and went home. Surprisingly, Papa was in attendance. It wasn't too comfortable for most for the staff sha, the V.C sparked for them due to the fact that most of them were not around for the students registration. Anyway, the session has started ..............even for those of you that are still at home.
see more pictures after cut..............

THE GREAT WALLS OF CU

I know most of you are thinking so many things ..........you are probably wrong and probably right. But this is something almost everybody has experienced at least once (except you are the V.C's child).
You know those butterflies that fly about about in your stomach when you are nervous..........now you have to be truthful with yourself, don't you feel it every time you are passing that long cannaland wall. I feel it every single time I pass by those walls into canaanland with those butterflies becoming more aggressive as we drive through the gates. I hope someone does not die of heart attack one day......lol.
Anywayz I think I'm overcoming that feeling each time or more like getting used to it.  So CU peeps when you pass by those walls know that you are not alone ,we all feel the same way. And if you are not yet used to it, sorry cos when you get in to that gate you ain't coming out without one security asking you for exeat.
coming up soon are pictures of resumption day hustle.
Get ready for this semester guys......cos cuhotgist will be on FIRE!!!!!!.

7 THINGS I WILL NOT TAKE TO SCHOOL

CU peeps out there its almost time for resumption and that means shopping for stuff. Anywayz looking back at the time i've spent in CU here's a list of the things I will not buy and definitely not take to school................especially if you're in any of the guys hostel
#1. KETTLE
This is the number one thing on my list due to the nasty experiences I had with the kettle I had...........guys won't wash it, they wont return it back, they will break any part breakable and yes you at times have to o to another wing or Hostel (*winks*) to get the kettle you borrowed your floor mate back before it now finally gets spoilt. I won't take any kettle to school ..........don't know about you.

#2. IRON
This is next after kettle. Be sure that if you take any iron to school it will never be the same again both in shape and size. Plus imagine people telling you when you wake up in the morning that they are before you for your iron. Whew I ain't taking no iron to school. Dry cleaners never die.

#3. AIR FRESHNER
If you are considering taking this to school it is either you are still a leaner or you have too much money to spend or you are anticipating a roommate with wonderful odours. Anywayz I don't fall into any of those categories so air freshner stays at home.

#4.BUCKET
I won't say too much about buckets but I prefer to travel light and conserve space in my box.Plus you guys living closeby should bring..............I'll collect from you when I want to wash. Bring many oooooo we gas wash. Lol.

#5. PILLOW
Not too many people will support me on this but I think I'm cool with just the bed. I'll wrap some clothes together and lie down if my head needs some elevation.

#6. RADIO
Seriously............. what are you using radio to do when you are not a babcock student. I know you think nobody brings radio too school but you'll be surprised. Some people are just too used to life at home or cant do without Wazobia or cool FM (can't even remember the last time I sat down to listen to radio............except inside holdup). But anywayz  if you're considering bringing a radio (100L) for your own sake don't.We use laptops and Ipads in CU.

Last but not the least( who still writes like this?)...................
#7. MOSQUITO NET AND FLIT
The first and last time I brought these to school was in 100L when I was anticipating all kinds of conditions. Anywayz for those prone to malaria I really think you should bring these with you. But as for me.......... ummmmm I think I will be on four hundred floor far above mosquitoes.

P.S: All of you should bring the above things oooooo. I might need them (except radio).
P.P.S: You are also exempted and can bring the above things if you are a stingy ass Nigga like one of my guys. See you in school and expect some crazy pictures of resumption day hustle.
Adieue.(excuse my french).
