Covenant University Emerges Best Performing Higher Institution Of the Year

In the cosy hall of the International Conference Centre, Abuja, where Covenant University was recently announced as the “Best Performing Higher Institution of the Year”, the hall reverberated with the effect of the applause from the dignitaries in attendance.As the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charles Korede Ayo rose to approach the stage, more applause accompanied each of his steps. “Covenant University is poised to rewrite the history of higher education in Nigeria as this award will motivate us to do more”, he said while receiving the Crystal Plaque from the ace BBC Reporter, Savan Sandy. The Vice-Chancellor said further that the University was founded on the departure philosophy to help remedy the problems of access to quality education in the country and the continent. He explained that the University was already flying with a Vision of becoming one of the top 10 world-class universities in the next 10 years, tagged One of 10 in 10. “This award validates this fact”, he added. Professor Ayo attributed the many successes of the University to the exemplary leadership of the Chancellor and Chairman, Board of Regents, Dr. David Oyedepo. He added that, “This is just the beginning of greater things to come for the institution”. The organizers said that Covenant University was conferred with the award based on a nationwide poll conducted across Nigeria. This was contained in a letter earlier sent to the University, and signed by the Chairman, Screening/Award Committee, Mr. Tonye Rex Idaminabo. The letter read in part: “This is in recognition of your hallmark of excellence, quality service, and exceptional contributions to the advancement of Nigeria. Your positive values and exemplary leadership to our beloved country Nigeria are worthy of emulation.

” Over 40 awards of various categories were also presented during the event.
